Yauatcha City is hosting an exclusive wine tasting event with the award-winning Allegrini Estate on Tuesday, 8th May.

Hosted by Giampietro Tinazzo from Allegrini, the evening will include a tasting of several different wines from three of Allegrini’s estates accompanied by signature Cantonese dim sum canapés from Yauatcha.

Giampietro Tinazzo will guide guests through wines from the Allegrini, Poggio al Tesoro and Poggio San Polo estates.

Allegrini

The Allegrini family estate covers 100 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. The family has been growing grapes here for six generations; Giovanni Allegrini founded the estate in its current form, but when he passed away in 1983 it was handed over to his three children.

Poggio al Tesoro

One of the most exciting estates to have emerged from Italy in recent years, Poggio al Tesoro is a 70 hectare property in Bolgheri acquired in 2002 by the Allegrini family. The first vineyard they bought, Le Sondraia, is next door to Ornellaia: it is 12 hectares in size and planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

Poggio San Polo

Situated in the eastern part of Mantalcino, Poggio San Polo produces wines that are classic in style but with a bit more weight than would be found in the north. Purchased by Valpolicella producer Marilisa Allegrini, the estate has recently brought in winemaker Nicola Biasi to build on Poggio San Polo’s already considerable reputation and impressive layers of quality.

Guests will be able to try a variety of wines, including a Valpolicella from Allegrini, ‘Mediterra’ from Poggio al Tesoro and Rosso di Montalcino from Poggio San Polo amongst others, including one very special wine.
