The Apollo 11 Misson
Paving the way for future space exploration, the historic landing of the Apollo 11 spacecraft on the surface of the moon is a much celebrated moment in United States history. The 50th anniversary of this monumental event will be recognised this year at Space Center Houston with a special exhibit showcasing significant artifacts from the Apollo mission.
Celebrating the Lunar Landing with Mooncakes
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, Yauatcha Houston will be featuring a signature Mooncake dessert throughout the month of July. The Egg Custard Mooncake contains a Cantonese-style custard baked in golden pastry.
A Brief History of the Mooncake
Traditionally eaten during the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, Mooncakes are round pastries with fillings that vary regionally. Savory or sweet, these fillings can range from seaweed and ham to red bean paste, with contemporary versions stuffed with ice cream or caramel. These pastries are offered between friends and family during the festival and are an integral part of the celebration.
